This, far as I’m concerned, was the best VW ad ever.

Good, but not the best. VW has had so many legendary ad campaigns that it’s tough to be the best. I’d put the Darth Vader kid ahead of it, not to mention the ads for the Beetle back in the day.

Yeah some can drive differently than you might imagine. Mine was great off road, when some of my family came to the USA from Scotland they got into mining and she had to drive 1930s trucks on totally shit roads. My aunt married a guy with a Toyota Land Cruiser and we were somewhere and she was going to drive it back from there without them, he asked if she was ok driving it. My aunt was like, I think she can handle it haha. She can’t drive anymore, but up until a few years ago she was still chopping wood in Montana. She couldn’t carry/shoot the rifle anymore for walking the dogs (they live on the very edge of the very wild Beartooth mountains),so my dad got her bear spray.

A full-sized spare is/was a difficult get ... if I suddenly had to buy a car, I’d want at least that.

Coelocanth?

C’mon. This whole thing is brilliant. And it was like 1997 or 8.

That’s a reference that few will understand, but I do b/c I remember when dragged one out of the sea for the first time.

That’s one part of why it was so fucking brilliant.

And now you can do it by pressing and holding the unlock button, well, elsewhere in the world, apparently not in the U.S. or so a few people have said.

That ad is from 2002, I’m sure they’ve made a few tweaks since

Not a bad segment, but when that played, it was all worth it. Always use the war.
